In short - I reside in Florida, I purchased a car in New York. The car was forsale on EBay, with a formal and detailed description. With the understanding of the EBay description and conversations with the owner, I decided to purchase this car. I was assured this car was in EXCELLENT condition and etc. Signed contract on some terms, including payment, title, etc. Sent $1000 down payment via Paypal. Bought ticket to NY, and sent another payment via Express Mail for $2400. He had just bought the car and did not have the title, but he wanted to get rid of the car due to company car (claimed in the ad). Three days before my flight, I was told the steering rack was leaking and that he had it fixed, but there was a problem with the oil filter, it did not fit correctly and needs to be fixed. Spoke to shop, claimed the job would be complete by Friday. He paid for the steering rack and I agreed to pay for the fix of the oil filter ($704). I arrived in NY on Friday, was not able to get the car until Monday due to his misrepsentation of the car. The shop would not let me take the car in the condition it sat, warning me that it is not safe to drive from NY to FL. We spoke over the phone, because the car was not as described as it was over the phone and in the ad. We changed the agreement that we had originally agreed on our signed contract completely. After being delayed for 3 days in NY, we picked the car up on Monday. Started the trip and broke down in VA. Got the repairs done in VA, costed $200, but was told the car has had exsisting problems. Drove to FL, car still had the same problem. Took to shop in FL and found the car there's in excess of $2000 in repairs needs to be done. Do I have a case? Him and have been trying to work something out. He's threatened to take me to court, if I don't pay the full amount. That's the basics of the problem. I don't know if I'm even in the right place for this. I am married to a doctor in a small town in Mississippi. I was turned down for representation in my divorce from him by two attorneys. The third one assurred me he had not problem taking on my husband, who has been in rehab for narcotics addiction, and is a compulsive gambler and skirt chaser. I filed for divorce 3 or so years ago and we agreed to "work it out." He never stopped seeing the other woman/women. I filed for divorce in January. My attorney has done absolutely nothing since then to help me get out of this toxic relationship. Unlike my husband, I find it impossible to go one with my life (date) until I am actually single. I am at my wits end. My attorney is actually helping my husband to hurt me by doing nothing to get me out of this. Can I do it myself? Is there anyone out there reading this who would be willing to help me? My sense of powerlessness is intense. I simply don't know what to do that I haven't done, but there may be something. My husband makes lots and lots of money and you would be paid well, but only after my divorce. I am so desperate. I am so lost. I am so trapped.
